Brian Otieno

The only way to achieve great work is to love what you do. The innate passion to solve complex issues and the love of computers is what has drove Brian Otieno to earn a steady recognition for his contributions in health technology. 

Prior to joining Oxford University in United Kingdom for his undergraduate studies, Brian worked with Kenya Medical Research Institute and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (KEMRI/CDC)

While at the university, Brian worked at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in UK as an Information Technology consultant. He helped developed dashboards to monitor clinical trials across several African satellite sites. In addition, he implemented data collection tools for Global Initiative for Children’s Surgery (GICS) and also Operation Smile in Nicaragua.

Brian Otieno is currently working for Impact Research and Development Organization (Impact-RDO) an organization designing and implementing public health programs and research studies that benefit vulnerable population in Kenya.

With his realm of experience and set of skills, he was able to helped launch KenyaEMR eHTS Program with mUzima in May 2020. Within only one month of intensive use, mUzima has been used for collecting screening and encounter data of more than 7,000 clients.

Impact-RDO has implemented eHTS activities in six sites with several affiliated outreach facilities.

Brian Otieno continues to use his farsighted technological knowledge and the love for innovations to strive his organization’s vision. He is on track to complete his undergraduate studies.
